Melling Tithebarn Arts Association October 2011 Just a reminder of the next few events at the Tithebarn. Friday 18th November - We welcome Michael Lunts who will present the dramatic story of Frederick Chopin and George Sand. This will be a play with music performed by Michael. Chopin’s music provides the background to a riveting drama about the composer’s tempestuous affair with novelist George Sand. The Last Ballade offers audiences a dramatic insight, through the eyes of Chopin himself, into this extraordinary woman who has been variously described as both his muse and his “vampire”. Friday 16th December - we present Cantique, a local choir who will entertain us with a Christmas programme of carols and festive songs. They were at the Tithebarn last Christmas when there was that massive snowfall which prevented many of us even reaching the Tithebarn. Some of us managed to attend, but for those of us who missed this choir, we are welcoming them again this year. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available again, and there will be a later start time of 8p.m. as is usual with our Christmas evening. Please reserve a place by buying a ticket or phoning 0151 526 4992, or 0151 531 8772. There will be no event in January on account of the weather conditions. It is likely that the weather in January will not be conducive to encourage people to venture out, so we have decided not to hold a concert in January in future. However in February we will be arranging an event to remember John Hoople and to celebrate his love of good company, all kinds of music, and good food! We will be presenting a Cabaret evening, (lots of popular songs from the shows), and there will be a substantial supper, main course plus dessert, all for the same price of £7. Tickets will be limited to approximately 60, to allow for an arrangement of tables. We do hope that you will be able to join us, but it will be necessary to let us know that you intend to come, by purchasing or reserving your tickets. Our last Cabaret evening was enjoyed by all who attended, so we hope you will join us to remember John, and celebrate all he did for the Tithebarn. The date is Friday 17th February at 7.30p.m. At our last concert on Friday 14th October we had a large audience, which was really wonderful. For those who reserve seats there is a small request that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the concert so that you will be able to have seats with your companion or group. We do hope that those who attended were warm and comfortable! A quick reminder that membership can be renewed at any concert - the cost is £5 per person. |
